NOT EVERY REP NEEDS A REEL

When we opened VIGOR, we felt the same pressure every small business feels: “Post more. Show more. Be louder.” So we did what many gyms do, we filled our feed with clips of people mid-squat, mid-row, mid-sweat. It helped people find us and understand that we were here, in Grande Prairie, doing real work with real humans.

But here’s the truth: that’s not who we are.

We’re not a “cameras-always-on” gym. We’re a safe space: a place where you can walk in, leave the day at the door, and focus on your body, your breath, and your goals without worrying about who’s filming behind you.

Over the last year, we’ve been re-shaping our approach to photos and video to better match our values. You’ll start noticing fewer random workout clips and more intentional moments that reflect what actually matters here: milestones and meaningful wins.

Why we’re taking fewer photos

1) A gym should feel safe, not staged.
For many of our members, the gym is the one hour of the day where they’re not “on.” No performance. No comparison. No camera anxiety. Reducing casual filming respects that boundary and lets you train without distraction.

2) Privacy is part of respect.
We have nurses, teachers, coaches, business owners, new moms, and grandparents in here. People deserve the choice to be off-camera. We honor that by lowering the default lens and raising the bar on consent.

3) Your focus beats our content calendar.
The workout you’re doing—your technique, your effort, your recovery—matters more than a reel. Our promise is to protect your ability to focus so you can get stronger and live vigorously beyond the gym.

4) We celebrate more than we showcase.
Quick clips and short reels don’t tell the full story. We’d rather celebrate the day you deadlifted your bodyweight, returned after surgery, hit 100 classes, or hiked Ambler Mountain with the crew. Those are the posts that feel like VIGOR.

What you’ll still see (by design)

Milestones & success stories

PRs, first pull-ups, 50/100/250/500 class achievements are moments worth celebrating. We’ll still be documenting those days.

Professional photo days

A few times a year, we’ll bring in a photographer. These days are announced in advance (the next is October 6), clearly marked in the gym, and fully opt-in. Expect more high-quality photos of joy, community, and progress—not sweaty ambush candids.

Fewer posts, more meaning

We won’t try to keep pace with influencers or gyms that post 10 reels a day. Our goal isn’t to win at the algorithm; it’s to help you win at life outside the gym; carrying groceries with ease, hiking Peace Country trails, playing on the floor with your kids, traveling without second thoughts.

When you do see a photo or a story from VIGOR, we want it to feel like you!

If you ever have questions about our approach, or if you’d love a photo to mark a milestone, tell a coach. We truly do want to celebrate those moments with you! If you want to help us with our algorithm, like our posts and engage with our content.
